23/04/2019 - Creative contaminations and unusual plots define the modern vision of Paola Lenti, presented for the 2019 edition of the Milano Design Week in the industrial spaces of Fabbrica Orobia 15. Furniture, floors, wall coverings, a sequence of architectures in the form of theatre drapes that come together in the ‘In Scena’ project to narrate intuitions, innovations and products, past and present, in a continual dialogue among color, matter and form.

As ever we worked a lot with color’, Paola Lenti explains, ‘but this year our combinations are even more daring, especially in the outdoor collections, where usually there is a preference for more subtle palettes. I like to think that we can use colors that are neither aggressive nor invasive, that convey a tranquil vision of living’. 'In Scena', Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

The indoor ‘scene’ is set through the intensely colored dining table, Portofino, by Vincent Van Duysen, the cupboards and containers of the Euclide series, and the Walt seating system by Francesco Rota, made of sofa, both linear or tailored modular elements, large poufs and wooden side tables. Presented among the outdoor collection on the other hand are the Giunco armchairs by Francesco Bettoni, Telar by Lina Obregón, and Sabi by Francesco Rota. 'In Scena', Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Giunco consists of a gloss-varnished aluminum structure, covered by hand in Twiggy yarn. Telar is made with elastic belts covered in a Rope yarn braid. The armchairs, sofas, and modular elements of Sabi stand out for their new structural weave created by hand with a flat braid in Rope yarn, available in one or more colors to create a chequered pattern. The title, "In Scena", is the outcome of a precise conceptual research: it represents our modern living philosophy. This line of thought encompasses not just objects, but architecture and its decoration too. This is how the search, the choice, and the juxtaposition of materials came about’.

A mix of shapes, colors and materials thus takes on a theatrical vestige, becoming mobile and decorative, framing and defining space. Among these very peculiar architectural structures we find the coverings and decorative elements: Moon, Setteottavi, Assonanze, Glow, Nubila, Perigal, GeometricaPapiercollé, Bambou, BissoCouture, Mandala and Grisella. Moon, Setteottavi and Assonanze are tesserae that can be used both to fully cover vertical architectural structures and to create decorations according to one’s own style and creativity. Setteottavi, Nicolò Morales, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Glow is the covering mosaic for vertical surfaces. Little tesserae in different metals treated with different oxidations by De Castelli are laid by hand on a support slab according to a misaligned sequence. Glow, Paola Lenti e De Castelli_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Nubilia is the boiserie composed of Tela elements, a copper fabric available in four different hues, which are created by De Castelli with a series of manual processes. The panels composing Nubila are covered with a double layer of fabric in the new color hue Foliage and are divided lengthwise by copper rigid elements. Nubila, Paola Lenti e De Castelli_ph. The Perigal wooden covering for floors and vertical surfaces is composed according to a famous mathematical theorem dating to the 19th century, based on the decomposition of the square and is finished in Mano Opaca. Perigal, Paola Lenti e Listone Giordano_ph. Sergio Chimenti

The Geometrica Boiserie is characterized by the combination of panels in the same color, but in slightly different shades, sometimes darker, sometimes lighter, adding to the natural differences created by the wood grain and by the hand finishing. Geometrica, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Papiercollé is a covering for vertical architectural structures. The geometric decoration is engraved on the background surface that comes to life and lights up thanks to a shiny gloss varnishing. Papiercollé, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Bambou is a movable partition composed of majolica cylinders in different dimensions made and decorated by hand by Nicolò Morales. The Bambou compositions are mounted one over the other on steel cables and spaced by felt disks. Bambou, Nicolò Morales, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Bisso is a partition made of brass net elements manually treated with an oxidation process and that design its surface. Bisso, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Couture is composed of hundreds of little fabric elements resulting from the hand cutting and superimposition of more layers in different colours and textures. Couture, Marella Ferrera, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Mandala is made of rigid rings covered with braids in Rope yarn and joined by flat cords in the same yarn but in a different color. Mandala, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

Finally Grisella, a Partition made of a cord in Rope yarn, which is shaped by hand and machine sewn to create a large mesh netting that separates without isolating. Grisella, Paola Lenti_ph. Sergio Chimenti

The unique, unmistakable language and the established aesthetic identity of Paola Lenti are thus expressed in the indoor and outdoor living spaces. A rhythm set by iconic pieces that coexist to achieve a perfect synthesis of functionality and sustainability, traits that have always characterized the Paola Lenti brand.
